1. What Type of Music Do you Play at Studieaux Heaux?
We do not have any music rules at the studio which means you will hear a little bit of everything, depending on which instructor is in charge of music that night. We do not play edited versions of songs, so many of the songs that are played are of a graphic and explicit nature.
2. What is the Dress Code at Studieaux Heaux?
We do not have any specific rules on clothing, except that all of the naughty bits need to stay covered. Other than that wear what you feel the most comfortable in. If you are coming to Studieaux Heaux for the first time there are some clothing guidelines that will make things easier for you.
* Pole: The rule of thumb is that the more skin you have exposed the easier it will be. Skin sticks, fabric slides. When you are just starting out shorts and a t-shirt or tank top are fine. As you get more comfortable your clothing choices may change.
* Silks and Sling: Long pants and a t-shirt with sleeves (not a tank top) are preferred. This keeps your skin safe from fabric burns and keeps our fabrics safe from underarm smells. Please always wear deodorant to this class to help us prolong the life of our fabrics.
* Lyra: Lyra is best in long pants, like leggings, and a t-shirt or tank top. The leggings will allow you to slide on the Lyra and also give a minimal amount of support because sometimes the Lyra isn't comfortable.
* Twerkshop: To let the magic happen we suggest that you wear loose fitting shorts or pants.
3. Can I wear jewelry at the studio?
As lovely as your jewelry is, we will ask that you take it all off before you start class. Jewelry can scratch the poles and lyra and cause rips in the Silks and Slings. It is best if you do not wear any jewelry to the studio, but if you do please make sure to take it off and put it in a secure spot. The studio is not responsible for lost of stolen jewelry. In our boutique, Heaux Apparel, we do sell a lovely product called the Lion Latch that is a perfect way to secure your jewelry during class. You can ask you instructor to point them out to you.
4. If I have never been to a class before can I go to Open Studio?
Unfortunately, you must have taken at least an Intro class to attend Open Studio. Open Studio is non-instructor practice time, and if you have not learned any moves on the pole then it is not safe for you to during Open Studio. If you are coming to Studieaux Heaux and you have experience, please reach out to us via email studieauxxxheauxxx@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram @studieaux.heaux and send a few videos so that we can confirm you have the skills necessary to have self-guided practice time. We will gladly unlock the ability to book Open Studio.
5. Is that Late Class Policy strictly enforced?
Yes, this policy is in effect for your safety. It is not advisable to do any of the apparatuses at the studio without properly warming up. Our classes use a unique warm-up and if you are not in class to do that warm-up we will not allow you to continue. Please plan to be to the studio 10 minutes early to ensure you have enough time to be ready when class begins.
