The Studieaux Heaux curriculum is built to culminate in students becoming Veterans on their desired apparatus. A veteran means that the student is no longer within the curriculum parameters. Studieaux Heaux will provide opportunities for students to continue their education by scheduling workshops and training collaborations, but will no longer have curriculum based options for study. Being a veteran with Studieaux Heaux means that you can go out into the world, visit other studios and be confident in your achievements and represent the studio well. To become a veteran, students must follow the guidelines below.
Before beginning, each student should pick an instructor who teaches their apparatus and ask them to be the moderator and guide for their veteran process.
One year of Level 4 on the apparatus of your choice means a consistent attendance in Level 4 classes at Studieaux Heaux. Students should miss no more than 2 consecutive weeks of class. Exceptions will be made for students who experience gaps in training due to emergency, injury or illness. "Time served" will be accepted if the instructor and owner believe that the student did not regress in their skills and abilities during the prolonged absence. Significant decrease in skill level will result in a loss of previous attendance credit towards veteran status.
The student must attend at least 5 technique focused workshops or private lessons within the year they begin training for veteran status. Workshops may be those hosted by Studieaux Heaux or outside the studio, a mix of both is preferred but not required. Workshops must also be on the apparatus you are focusing on.
Student must choreograph and perform at least 2 seperate routines at formal showcases or competitions within the year they are training for veteran status. Routines must be at least 3 minutes long and showcase advanced skill levels. At least one of the routines/competition pieces must be performed at a location seperate from Studieaux Heaux. It is recommended, to advance your skill in performance that both routine/competition pieces be performed outside of the studio. Growth happens when we are outside of our comfort zone and home studio, but the requirement is that only one routine must be outside the studio.
Student much perform a graduation piece at the studio on the day of graduation closest to the year mark of the beginning of their journey to veteran status. The graduation piece has the same guidelines as every student must follow to graduate: minimum of 2 minutes, choreographed on your won, performed live.
Once the student has completed the requirements to achieve veteran status in the apparatus of their choice, they will schedule and complete a lightening round. This will be an in-person test where the student will be called upon to demonstrated knowledge and command of random skills from all levels of the curriculum. It is up to the student to study on their own, all the skills required in each level so that they can demonstrate mastery. The lightening round will be completed for the instructor in charge of the student and the studio owner.
